September 1990 Front of postcard designed by Muna Al-Mousa and Michael Lorrigan. It capitalized on Saddam Hussein's notorious TV appearance with 5 year old British hostage Stuart Lockwood on August 23. The postcard was widely distributed in the UK and US. (This website, relying on John Levins as its source, originally attributed the postcard solely to Al-Mousa until she contacted us: "“I have to alert you to a mistake in attributing the design of the 'Hitler' postcard to me. It was NOT designed by me. I recall Michael Lorrigan coming up with the idea and implementing it. John Levins, in his book 'Days of Fear,' mistakenly attributed the design to me and I have a letter of apology from him for this mistake. I feel that this is an opportunity to correct the mistake and give credit where credit is due." However, Lorrigan’s recollection differs: "I am not going to take credit for the Hitler card. I may have suggested the final design and caption, but it was Muna who showed the 2 photos me, with the basic idea. So give her credit for the original idea, which I then may have 'fine tuned'!") |
