November 2, 1990  As the first of three activities for Free Kuwait Day, the Kuwaiti High Committee jointly with the Association for Free Kuwait (AFK) organized a morning gathering at the Thames River near Jubilee Gardens to promote Kuwaiti sovereignty and express solidarity with the resistance inside Kuwait. Under the patronage of Sheikh Khalid Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah (first on left), thousands of black balloons were released by a boat on the river in a show of support for the families of Kuwaiti POWs, MIAs, and the growing number of martyrs. Also present are Dr. Hmoud Al-Ruqba (2nd from left) and Khalid Abdulsalam (extreme right). (See also .)
