As days passed, hope faded for a voluntary withdrawal of Iraqi troops from Kuwait. The Iraqi regime's intention became obvious: permanent occupation by incorporating Kuwait into Iraq. For the next seven months, Hyde Park was the gathering place every Sunday at noon for Kuwaitis to get news from occupied Kuwait and to discuss the crisis. (See also 0102.) |
