August 5, 1990 On Thursday, August 2, 1990, the Iraqi army invaded and occupied Kuwait. Before organized Free Kuwait Campaign activities got under way, Kuwaitis visiting or living in London did not know where to go or what to do. Starting on August 5, the first Sunday after invasion, they gathered near Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park to discuss the crisis. Among those present are Dr. Abdulmohsen Jamal (gray hair and eyeglasses) and Abdulnabi Jamal (in pink-striped shirt). (See also 0002-0102, 0301-0302, 0701-0713. and 2101-2110.) |
